Features of LSM propulsions

  • wear-free, 10 million stress runs
  • compact construction of the stator, because of a special core structure, very high notch filling up to 60%
  • magnetical impact over the whole constructional-width
  • completely capsuled (IP68)
  • solid mechanical conduct necessary
  • secondary parts are used passively as perma magnet without any electrical input
  • forces up to 200 kN at 3000 A
  • speed up to 50 m/s (180 km/h)

Features of SLIM propulsions

  • no transverse forces
  • weight 27 kg without cable
  • length 1500 mm, thickness 20 mm
  • thrust 8 kN/m, brake force 14,7 kN/m

Roller Coaster California

1995: Tauscher sators for Superman Reverse Free Fall

  • moved weights: 7000 kg
  • maximal speed: 45 m/s (=160 km/h)
  • maximal acceleration: 2g
  • mechanical driver input: 1,5 MW
  • power of the frequency-inverter: 2500 kVA
  • quote of permitted false-starts: 10 ppm
  • Six Flags Magic Mountain Park

Within seven seconds, the 7 t heavy vehicle is accelerated up to 160 km/h and shoots vertically up in the air. During the following free fall, the passengers are weightless for approximately six seconds.

Hybrid propulsions “Neue Bahntechnik” Paderborn

2002: Tauscher stators for rail cab

The propulsion module of the rail cab is composed of a double fed long stator linear motor. The basic propulsion is not included in the vehicle anymore at this concept. The three-phase windings, lying in the stator, build up a magnetic field, which moves forwards along the rails and thus transports the vehicle. The magnetic force action between the magnetic field of the stator and the field oft he armature accelerate and slow down the vehicle without using the tire/rail-contacts. The double fed allows any alignment of the magnetic field at the vehicle. Because of this, it is possible to run several rail cabs on the same stator segment. The tires of the vehicle are just used for leading and steering, which also decreases their wear. The secondary part of the engine (armature) is on the vehicle. By this, the unsprung weights of the cab are decreased, because a gearbox is abandoned completely. Furthermore the engine can be adjusted to the landscape, e.g. at risings the dimensions are increased.

Europapark Rust

From 0 to 100 km/h within 2,5 seconds. Into the roller coaster pleasure!
Currently the Europapark offers nine different roller coasters for coaster fans, whereas the Hyper Coaster Silver Star with a height of 73 meters is the highest roller coaster of Europe at the moment. Since 2009, the Blue Fire Megacoaster, a catapult coaster, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h within 2,5 seconds, provides a thrill for every fan of adrenaline.

Speed frenzy

Millions of people daily enjoy multiple loopings and falls at a high speed when riding the roller coasters all around the world. Despite the high speed, passengers can feel safe due to the fact, that the required knowledge for the systems comes from experienced German companies. Tauscher linear stators are used in many roller coasters world wide already.

Sentosa - Battlestar Galactica

One half of the coaster resembles an inverted roller coaster track in blue. The second half is a coaster with traditional seats on a red track. Battelstar Galactica is currently the tallest dueling coaster in the world, reaching 42,5 m. The trains are launched from their stations at high speed instead of the traditional chain lift. This is only possible due to the new technology of Linear Synchronous Motors.
LSM are used for high acceleration speed during launching. 192 of those LSM were produced and delivered at the beginning of 2009 by Tauscher Transformatoren GmbH in cooperation with InTraSys GmbH in Munich.

The roller coaster is divided into two separate coasters:
Cylon: This is a suspended coaster that travels on an inverted blue track. It performs intense maneuvers and races into a 5 metre deep pit which is filled with artificial fog.
Human: This coaster is a seated roller coaster and travels on the red track. It reaches a speed of 90 km/h at one point of the track.

The coasters feature several near collisions mere inches apart, which gives the passengers extra thrill.
