electrical drive engineering – input sided line choke for rectifiers or frequency converters with or without energetic recovery system increase the life-time of downstream components; commutator choke; intermediate circuit choke; smoothing choke for DC-drives; balance choke; base load choke; motor choke at the inverter output to attenuate the steep voltage (du/dt) to e.g. < 50 V/µ protects the motor winding isolation and reduces disturbance; motor choke related to condensators as L-C-filters or sinusoidal filters for an improved output signal additionally reduces frequency noise, spares screened motor feed lines, enables longer linse and improves EMC; equal frequency choke at the inverter output reduces common-mode-current over the engine brackets against earth (ball bearing wearout,
see also IEC 60034-25) in easiest case as toroidal core over the power output.

audiotechnology – rod core choke for frequency turnout; filter reactor; balance choke

railway technology - air chokes are used in railway technology and in electric power transformation substations to smooth high voltage peaks. Air chokes don’t switch to saturation when overloaded.

reactance compensation unit – three-phase filter circuit choke constructed for various claimed filtering factors p resp. resonance frequencies ( fres = fline * ), with small inductance tolerance, linear far over In, for the tensile loading safety of condensator batteries, resulting from harmonics in lines, above all with current reactor tension, altogether main impedance is increased.
